It all starts with careful measuring of both the horse and the rider. Almost a dozen measurements are taken of the horse, and several of the rider. Because the saddle is fully custom the fit is exactly right for you and your horse.

Once the measurements are sent to Germany the production begins.  Under the watchful eye of Master Saddler Thorsten Fichtbauer, the creator of this saddle, his team of hand-picked, carefully trained workers hand craft your saddle.  The work is beautiful, with careful attention to detail.

the materials

 Thorsten chooses only the finest leathers for the saddles, constantly researching the best supply.  
Equally special is the flocking, which comes from the Kapok tree.  This unique flocking does not bunch, like wool can, does not break down like man-made fibers can, and is antimicrobial.  The result is a saddle that rarely needs flocked.  We keep a supply of Kapok at our farm, and are fortunate to have access to Master Saddle Fitter Kyrena Parkinson who has traveled to Germany to meet Thorsten and ensure her expertise with Kapok and the Fichtbauer Saddle.
